MCA AND THE MOB
Verbatim from 'Virtual Government' by Alex Constantine pp.52-54 Mafia
dons found lifelong friends in Hollywood.

Bugsy Siegel pooled gambling investments with Billy Wilkerson, publisher
of Hollywood Reporter. And in 1952, at MCA, Actors' Guild president
Ronald Reagan - a movie idol recruited by MOCKINGBIRD's Crusade for
Freedom to raise funds for the resettlement of East European Nazi
Quislings in the U.S. - signed a secret waiver of the
conflict-of-interest rule with the mob-controlled studio, in effect
granting it a labor monopoly on early television programming. In
exchange, executive of MCA made Reagan a part owner of the company.

When President Reagan says that he has forgotten important details
about the Iran-contra affair, there is ample precedent for his inability
to recall key events. On Feb. 5, 1962 -- the day before his 51st
birthday -- he appeared as a witness before a federal grand jury in Los
Angeles.

In 1987, historian C. Vann Woodward, writing in the New York Times,
reported that Reagan "fed the names of suspect people in his
organization to the FBI secretly and regularly enough to be assigned 'an
informer's code number, T-10.' His FBI file indicates intense
collaboration with producers to 'purge' the industry of subversives."

The Mafia's hold on Hollywood periodically burst into headlines with
politically-embarrassing results. In December of 1988, the president of
MCA's Home Video Division, Eugene Giaquinto, was accused by the FBI of
funneling corporate payoffs to Ed "The Conductor" Sciandra, believed to
be Giaquainto's uncle and the alleged underboss of Pennsylvania's
Buffalino crime family.

Casolaro was working on a book entitled, "Behold a Pale Horse," which
encompassed the October Surprise story, the Inslaw computer software
case, the Iran/Contra affair, the B.C.C.I. scandal, and M.C.A.
entertainment corporation, all overlapping and interconnecting into one
network which he dubbed, "The Octopus."

He told friends that he "had traced the Inslaw and related stories back
to a dirty CIA `Old Boy' network" that had begun working together in the
1950's around the Albania covert operations. These men had gotten into
the illegal gun and drug trade back then and had continued in that
business ever since.

Moldea, Dan E. Dark Victory: Ronald Reagan, MCA, and the Mob. New York:
Viking Press, 1986. 390 pages.
Three months on the Los Angeles Times bestseller list, this is the
definitive history of Mafia influence in Hollywood, the hub of which is
MCA. The Music Corporation of America began in 1924 as a fledgling
band-booking company. It soon monopolized the business, and today is
Hollywood's most powerful TV, film, and recording conglomerate.
Ronald Reagan was nurtured by MCA influence since his days as president
of the Screen Actors Guild. In 1962 he told a grand jury that he
couldn't remember why the Guild negotiated an exclusive arrangement with
MCA that extended their monopoly. Years earlier, as confidential
informant T-10, Reagan provided the FBI with information regarding Guild
members whom he suspected were Communists. Reagan's glad-handing,
"ah-shucks" style, apparently oblivious to the powerful forces
manipulating him, has been evident since the 1940s.

Two influences gave Reagan a chance at "rebirth". One was his marriage
to Nancy Davis in 1952, when she was 30 and he 42. The other was the
corporate influence of Music Corporation of America (MCA) and General
Electric (GE).

The corporate influence, General Electric, gave him a substantial salary
over an eight year period, from 1954-62 as a host for General Electric
Theater. Music Corporation of America both promoted Reagan and helped
him with special gigs to pay for back taxes. When he was governor of
California, the owners of MCA arranged for Reagan to sell a piece of
property at much greater than market cost.
